Hi i have a 16 week old doberman puppy, which is brilliant, and lots of fun, has great tempermant, and already started to become territorial, however i am worried about the food evy problems as we have had an icident in the house with someone that walked past him while he was eating, and he went for the person only causing ascratch, how do i erradicate this, or do i erradicate this, or do i just everyone to stay away when he is eating, he is fine with me, if i tell him to spit out his bone and leave his food he does it and stands back and lets me move it or take it away from him, as being his owner, i do exoect that i may be the only one allowed to do this, but i just wanted to know is this normal. i know about pack mentality and so on, so if this is okay then i will just warn everyone

This is behavior that needs to stop right away watch this video:

You can never allow a dog to become possesive of food, toys etc. unless you are training guard dogs to guard thos objects. The dog must sit quietly while you put down the food and not move until you say okay. Then you should be able to take it away again and the dog must resume sitting. It will come with very little work, or the puppy goes hungry. They quickly learn that manners is the only way they are going to get to eat.

Dobes are like potato chips, you really can't have just one...
