I have decided that getting my dogs CD/CDX is something we'll be wanting to do, its just I know nothing about getting started. I do well at training my dogs and from the information I have gathered I've been training them to do most of the things required except only to empress friends and family. We have two Doberman clubs in T.N. but I don't think they have websites and I don't know if they are the ones to help me if they did. Anyone?

A CD is something you can go out and get on your own with a lot of work, but if you haven't been in competition before it is a great idea to get a coach or trainer to help you along. Competition style oedience is very different than teaching your dog a basic come, sit, down, stay. Go to a few AKC shows, and watch the obedience ring, and talk to a few of the people coming and going, and they could point you to clubs and trainers in your area, I don't know any personally so I am not much help. It is quite rewarding though, and a fun journey!

Dobes are like potato chips, you really can't have just one...

Here is an All breed club in Knoxville Tennessee that is an AKC club member. They offer training classes in obedience, agility and conformation. I don't know if they are any good but you could probably go and check them out. They are the Tennessee Valley Kennel Club. I did not see any doberman specific AKC clubs.

Here are some other AKC training clubs in Tennessee. I am not sure how close they are to you.

Here is some good information on the AKC website about getting started in Obedience.

Here is also a list of all AKC shows for Tennessee.

This is a list of specifically Obedience, Agility and Rally shows

You can usually go and watch for free!
