Sasha just got her ears cropped on Tuesday, and we picked her up yesterday.
Who knew what a drama queen she is!

She hates her cone (not that I blame her) and tries every little thing she can think of to get it off of her head, so we have to watch her pretty diligently.

She threw a little hissy fit today, and opened up one of the scabs on her ear. So we, being overparanoid parents, ran her to the vet. They assured us no damage was done, and we did the right thing by coming in.
To anyone getting ears done I think it's paramount that (if you are not experienced) you have a vet that is willing to follow up and has no problems with rookie questions.

I am happy to say Dr. Arn and crew are very meticulous and patient with their clients. They take the cropping very seriously and I must say I'm proud to have had him perform Sasha's surgery. Not trying to plug, just expressing my satisfaction so far.

Anyhow. I have a few pics. Some are just baby pictures, one is of the conehead. These pics never get old, I swear.

She is a cutie, hopefully as she becomes an adult she will still keep her sweet face. My Princess is now 4 1/2 months and it seems like just yesterday she had the floppy ears and then went through the cone head stage.

It sounds like you have a good vet, one whose primary focus is on the health and well being of the animal, the humans are able to fend for themselves. I had a very good vet when I lived in Virginia 20 years ago and she told me point blank once that my Dobies were her patients and I was only there to transport them, care for them and pay the bill. I had to agree.

Max, if Deuce is 3 months, that is 13 weeks. If you intend to crop the ears, I hope you have seen the vet and have it scheduled by now. If you wait much longer, it will be too late.

I thought I would throw in an update.
Just one of the many pictures of Sasha after she got the cone off of her head.

Just a question, she has developed a funky toe.
Not sure if she injured it, we are able to manipulate it without hurting her, but it seems to trip her up occasionally. She can also be seen lightly favoring it as well.
It appears that when she stands bearing full weight, it really pokes out farther than the others, and look almost like she's not walking up on her pads like the other foot.

The vets think we are crazy, and they don't see it. But believe me, its obvious. One of the vet's even said that they see dobes toes grow a bit out of sync when they are young.

Not convinced that the toe is actually bigger though, because at rest it appears just like the rest. She definately isnt standing on it right.
Anyone ever see anything like this? Maybe I can post a pic as soon as my wife gets home and does the uploading. She gets her wraps changed this week, I may asked that they xray it if Im not seeing an improvement.

Ah she does look great!
On the toe, I have seen Dobes run around on a broken toe for a week before it was noticed, and some run around on them until hey heal broken since Dobes can be quite stoic. I would have an x-ray done to rule that out and see what the bone structure is looking like.

The toe looks a little better, seems like the knuckle was swollen, not so much a broken bone I think. We are keeping an eye on it, by the time we noticed it, if it had been broken the bone would already have started to heal.

It doesn't seem to be painful anymore, and as time goes on, she is getting back up on the digit a bit more.

So I hope its okay, the vets were reluctant to x-ray it.

Sasha goes in to get the tape removed today to see if her ears will stand. The vet seems confident.
She's growing so fast I can't believe it! She can stand up and reach my wifes shoulders now.
Still a clumsy puppy, often barrelling across our tile floor and wiping out furniture, little dogs and us in the process.

Can not WAIT for her last set of shots so we can take her out and burn off that energy.

That and she is so awesome I just want to show her off :D

Just an update, not sure if anyone is reading it, but this has been a nice tool for me to keep track of her progress.
Sasha's ears did, in fact stand when we removed the tape, one ear was slightly tilted inward so the vet opted to give it another one or two weeks.
We got her final set of puppy shots today, and got the green light to take her out for walks, what glorious day. We can finally get some of that puppy energy burnt off.
She is starting to lose puppy teeth now, and the incessant gnawing has begun.

Going in Monday to check the ears again, will try to get photos this time.

We have been following Sasha's progress! Our glorious going out walking day is Tuesday. We can't wait. I've been reluctant to post because I'm a professional photographer and haven't had the time to get photos together, but will soon. Sasha and Atia look sooo much alike, eye bogers and all! lol We go on monday to check her progress on the ears. The last time he let them down, one stayed up the other didn't - she looked silly but so cute! Please keep up with the info on Sasha's progress. Atia hasn't lost a tooth yet (that we can tell) How is the house training going? We are almost done...she has the poo down pat, but she can still drop a pee at any moment! Only major issue is how excited she gets when people come to the house....she wants to jump all over them and lick their toes, but we are working on it. Promise to get pics soon and please keep us updated!

As far as the potty training goes, she mostly has the poo down as well, she whines to go out... but when it's pee time, she just has at it so far.
We may be introducing a doggy door sooner than later.

Her ears came out of the tape, the left one is wandering inward still, so we retaped it and will give it another couple weeks.
They looked really awesome for the first day or so.

That wasn't in the application... Now you have me feeling self conscious about my pictures!! And I am wondering why you haven't submitted any for the photo contest yet. And... please send me a link where I can see some of your work, as you can tell I really enjoy Photography.
In fact that is going to be a new sticky thread I am going to start, Pet Photography tips... We have one other Puppy owner that is a pro, he is a Leica/Hasseblad man, with my luck you are probably Canon folks. I tell people it's just like Ford or Chevy, you have to pick one Smile I am a Nikon Guy and of course a GM guy and now they are going bankrupt...
