Well it was a disppointing day yesterday going out to participate in a local search. A guy I grew up with went missing and his car was found at the base of a trailhead. Police are claiming that they aren't even sure he is in the area, which is a disappointment. I can understand that they might have to approach all probable angles, but in this case I see no other reason to believe he is anywhere else. The area is dense with brush and trees and it's really difficult terrain.
I took Diesel up to help search but didn't even get a chance to get out because the sherriff department is running the search efforts and weren't deploying anyone new.
I get they don't want scent contaminations and so forth but the efforts yesterday were a bit lacking in using the resources from what I could tell. Diesel isn't trained in Cadaver searching and I'm afraid that's what we'll be looking for now.
I was fortunate to meet Steve's brother though. He married a cousin of the victim. Small world huh?

Well the unfortunate end as expected - they found him last night just before 8 PM with self inflicted wounds. Too bad for the family. Steve, Jan was saying that even in their group they have had drama and some people have split off RMR to try going it their own as well. I guess that's the hard part when you get strong personalities together. Still no reason for us that want to help not to try right.

This afternoon Mia (Cassie's sister) will be starting some search training. We are excited to go out and train with them. Several weeks ago they were out camping and my friend's son who has autism wondered off. Cassie did her service companion work and stayed right by his side. Without any formal training in this respect their other shepherd Kato came back to the group and directed them to where he was. I just love these good dogs we have in our lives to keep us safe. Smile
